Job description
A Senior Mass Properties Engineer job in Kent, WA is currently available through Belcan. This is a full-time direct position with benefits. To be considered, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar discipline and five to seven years of experience with mass properties management of commercial aerospace flight hardware. Experience with mass property estimation, verification, and statistical analysis for complex, commercial spaceflight systems are strongly preferred. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the development and maintenance of mass properties procedures, methods, predictions and database management. This will involve close, on-site collaboration with the customer"s design and manufacturing teams to continuously improve manufacturing data streams, inspection procedures, fidelity of the mass properties database, and the confidence of forecasted system mass.
Job Duties:
- Enable continuous improvement of part weighing practices on production work orders.
- Collaborate with our customer"s integrated product teams to establish acceptable mass variations for each piece part, sub-assembly, and assembly.
- Optimize the production weighing processes and procedures through close collaboration with the customer"s manufacturing teams.
- Witness key operations on the production floor to identify further optimization opportunities.
- Reduce the overall system"s mass growth allowance by increasing the fidelity of the mass properties database through careful sampling of piece parts and statistical analysis tools.
- Support the documentation and publication of mass reports at the required level of fidelity for communication to the customer"s management team.
- Provide quality overchecks of available mass properties data from the customer"s databases and reconcile any discrepancies.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerosapce Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- Five to seven years" experience with mass properties in the aerospace industry.
- Experience with weighing aerospace parts and assemblies
- Experience with configuration management and quality management systems.
- Extensive computer skills included MS Excel, MATLAB, and CAD.
Preferred:
10 - 15 years' experience with mass properties in the aerospace industry.
Extensive experience with mass properties control processes with an emphasis on mitigating threats and capitalizing on opportunities.
Familiarity with ANSI/AIAA S-120.
Familiarity with different alloy systems (Ni, Fe, Al, and Ti based) and their subsequent mass properties.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on material and data flows, authoring work instructions, and interfacing with technicians.
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $115,000 to $175,000.
