Job description
Centofanti School of Nursing is seeking a motivated, positive, and student-centered nursing educator to provide exemplary online graduate instruction for our family nurse practitioner (FNP) program. The position focus is on online asynchronous instruction but may include synchronous delivery and some classroom in-person teaching as needed. Management of student work within an online learning platform is an essential skill.
Additional areas of instruction may include selective nursing specialty areas and medical-surgical nursing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Creates an active and dynamic learning environment by performing evidence-based teaching and evaluation of students.
Provides ongoing evaluation of students' knowledge and progression in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills.
Supports student progression in academics and socialization into the role of nursing.
Has skills essential to communicate with students, professional preceptors, fellow faculty, and staff.
Actively participates in a systematic plan for curriculum design, program evaluation, and accreditation needs.
Participates in mentoring, advising, and registering students for nursing courses.
Participates in recruitment, retention, and successful progression of students within the program.
Commits to working with diverse student and community populations while building a culturally diverse and inclusive educational environment.
Participates in School of Nursing, College, and University service activities and abide by policies.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the University community through teaching.

Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise supervision over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Unencumbered Ohio RN license and Family Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Nurse Certification .
Minimum Qualifications: B achelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university. Two or more years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner, APRN. Unencumbered Ohio RN license and Family Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Nurse Certification .
Preferred Qualifications: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD. One or more years of teaching online, in person, and/or in the classroom, clinical, or lab. Experience in online course development. Successful nurse practitioner educators must possess a range of soft skills including written and verbal communication skills, listening skills, organizational skills, time management skills, teamwork skills *Essential* as well as the ability to provide accurate information and communicate to students, faculty, and coordinator or director as necessary. Experience serving as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students.
