Your Opportunity
Stantec Consulting Services Inc. has an immediate opening in our Baton Rouge, LA office for a Roadway CADD Technician with Transportation or Civil Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
Create, maintain, and edit design drawings (exhibits, conceptual sketches, etc.) and construction plans for transportation projects as required using Microstation and OpenRoads Designer software packages. Experience with InRoads or GeoPak or OpenBridge software is encouraged, but not a requirement. AutoCAD / Civil 3D experience is not a requirement but is considered comparable.
Assist with the preparation of high-quality plans by using engineering calculations, notes, sketches, etc. prepared by engineers.
Provide clear and detailed plan preparation work, compliant with accepted design/drafting standards of the client including manuals, standard figures and plans, or other resources from various agencies and municipalities.
Understand the terminology, technology, and other concepts related to transportation engineering and construction practices. Apply this understanding to the process of developing geometric layouts and roadway details, including typical sections, plan and profile sheets, drainage systems, signing and marking details, and cross sections.
Facilitate and ensure the quality of the drawings and graphic work produced for the team.
Perform quantity calculations for construction plans.
Ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
Work closely with project managers, project engineers, designers, and other roadway CADD technicians.
May involve field work to assist with topographic survey verification.
Work with Stantec Digital Practice Team staff to stay current with latest software updates and needs.
Provide support and troubleshooting assistance for Transportation design related CADD, plotting, and analysis software.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficient skills in Microstation, OpenRoads (Preferred), InRoads, GeoPak, OpenBridge, Projectwise, Excel, and PDF editing are important.
Strong attention to detail and presentation
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a “team player” approach to design and problem solving.
Ability to work within a team, sharing workloads to meet deadlines.
Ability to lead other team members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Openness to learning modern technologies, practices, and standards.
Education and Experience
2 years’ experience in civil/structural engineering drafting of roadways and other transportation structures.
Technical Degree encouraged, AAS or BS in Computer Aided Drafting and Design Preferred.
