Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE) is a unit within Illinois International that provides exceptional study abroad experiences through academically and professionally integrated pathways for Illinois students, faculty, and staff. The IAGE core services model provides support and guidance to students, faculty, and staff seeking to internationalize the University of Illinois' land grant mission. They serve as a collaborative partner to units across campus and seek to align their operations with best practices in the field of education abroad to promote global competence. Primary Position Function/Summary: Provide direct technical and analytical support for international mobility and partnerships software applications, and supports the development, restructuring, implementing, and training of new and existing data and information management systems solutions to support international programs and operations.
Statement of Duties & Responsibilities: - Conduct implementation, upgrades, testing, and respond to all day-to-day functional customer service issues related to international mobility program and participation database software, international partnerships software, and other University software systems, ensuring accuracy in data collection systems.
- Coordinate international program knowledge management system, ensuring relevant processes, procedures, and definitions on international program operations are documented and shared with relevant stakeholders. Maintain systems protocols by writing and updating procedures with oversight of Assistant Director for Information Systems Management.
- Prepare statistical program-level and participant-level data reporting to interpret and identify trends such as participation rates, demographics, etc., filtering and cleaning data as necessary.
- Develop program evaluation and assessment instruments to measure effectiveness and impact of global strategy and learning initiatives.
- Develop and present training materials and provide system user support and training for staff on international education and related software systems.
- Anticipate and adhere to laws, regulations, and policies associated with international mobility and data systems.
- Serve as committee or working group member and/or liaison with other campus units at discretion of Assistant Director for Data and Systems.
Required Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or IT/CRM systems integration, data analysis, database administration or closely related field.
- Demonstrated intermediate level experience in MS Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and interpreting statistical data reports to identify trends and patterns.
Preferred: (Successful candidates will have): - Bachelor's degree in information systems, database management, or business, systems, or data analytics.
- Demonstrated technical experience with university CRM and/or student information systems.
- Demonstrated experience with web-based applications for study abroad, esp. Terra Dotta Systems (TDS).
- Demonstrated experience in restructuring internal workflow processes to align with university administration systems and federal regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with data visualization applications, e.g. Tableau.
- Demonstrated experience communicating complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): - Problem-solving skills to identify areas for process enhancement.
- Effective communication skills for sharing information with stakeholders, especially when presenting complex technical subject matter to a non-technical audience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage data, procedures, and training materials efficiently.
- Proficient in database management, data collection and data analysis.
- Ability to develop and maintain system protocols and procedures.
- Capacity to coordinate knowledge management systems and document relevant processes and procedures.
- Ability to respond to day-to-day functional customer service issues promptly and effectively.
- Ability to collaborate positively and effectively with diverse work groups.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in software systems, technologies, and university procedures.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: This is a full-time 100% Civil Service Information Technology Technical Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. Salary will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. The minimum salary for this position is $51,000.00.
Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position. Civil Service employees may earn up to 28 days of vacation leave per year, depending on length of service. The University offers 11 annual paid holidays , 12 cumulative sick leave days, plus an additional 13 non-cumulative sick leave days, if needed, each year.
