Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

NCGrowth is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and associated with the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.

This Program Manager will work under the Assistant Director of Economic Development to manage client projects providing technical assistance and consulting to business, government and non-profit clients with a focus on leveraging outdoor recreation for economic growth in small North Carolina communities. This includes developing partnerships, scoping projects and creating budgets, training and managing graduate students, writing and editing client reports and presentations, and giving public presentations. The Program Manager will provide technical expertise in areas such as demographic and market analysis, economic development planning, business planning, feasibility analysis, economic impact analysis, asset mapping and strategic planning. The Program Manager will have knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques for supporting business growth, facilitating entrepreneurship, equitable economic development, and strategic plan development. The Program Manager will also lead the development and promotion of Homegrown Tools, a website housing 60+ case studies of community and economic development from across the US.

Education and Experience:

Three years of related experience preferred.
Graduate degree in business, planning, policy, public administration, or related fields or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Professional networks in the business, non-profit, local government, and/or university administration sectors.
Working proficiency in Spanish.
