Job description
LOCATION: Onsite, Fairfax
SUMMARY: Manage all aspects of Tournament Operations including planning, budgeting and implementation of department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervises and handles all aspects of Tournament Operations daily functions to ensure compliance with departmental goals and objectives.
• Develops, implements and manages department budget, within divisional guidelines.
• Process all checks and credit card payments to the division per company policies.
• Process all division correspondence, to include mail, e-mail, and phone, in a timely manner.
• Complete and provide all tournament info to SSUSA on schedule.
• Provide Regional reports on a monthly basis to Publications.
• Ensure all aspects of State tournaments are set up, tracked, and reported in a timely manner.
• Ensure all tournaments are sanctioned and corresponding paperwork is completed and forwarded.
• Process any and all tournament cancelations or changes in a timely manner.
• Assist with the ordering, processing, and shipping of awards and required tournament materials.
• Process all scores received in digital or hard copy format for all competitors.
• Ensure classifications are updated and corresponding class cards are current and mailed in a timely manner.
• Assist with the processing of National Records.
• Maintain accurate files of event scoring both in digital and hard copy format.
• Appoints new referees as necessitated by program demands in a timely manner.
• Assigns referees to handle specific tournament operations' activities as necessitated by programs demands.
• Creates, updates and maintains roster of current referees in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains records of current rules and/or changes as they pertain to tournament operations. Keeps referees apprised of applicable rules and changes to same.
• Provides feedback to supervisors, support staff, volunteers and management in a timely manner.
• Provides onsite support at various competitive shooting events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE: High visibility with departmental/divisional staff, other NRA Divisions, outside referees and general public. Travel required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma required. College degree preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience in a position with similar level of responsibilities. Background or knowledge of competitive shooting sports essential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Demonstrated ability to organize and correlate data essential. Demonstrated ability to organize briefings and deliver presentation essential. Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of the shooting sports essential. Knowledge of competitive shooting rules and rules development essential. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer programs as related to competitive shooting. Willingness to learn additional software packages as required. Proven ability to supervise and motivate support staff essential.
