Job description

Guardian Fleet Services Inc., a leading provider of professional towing, recovery, and specialized transportation services, is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As an employee-owned company, we take pride in exceeding customer expectations with prompt and worry-free services. In this role, you will work closely with our team to inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of vehicles, including tow trucks and wreckers with gas and diesel engines. Your expertise in vehicle repair, from routine service to computer-aided diagnostics and air brake repairs, will be crucial to our operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic tests on Diesel vehicles and replace components as necessary, including the engine, transmission, steering mechanism, and braking system.
• Prepare comprehensive work plans after fully diagnosing vehicle issues.
• Complete routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks.
• Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with team members to clarify vehicle concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and certification and training in diesel engine repair.
• Advanced knowledge of vehicle systems, including electrical and diesel engine mechanisms.
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Physical requirements for this role include lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, climbing, and the ability to lift and pull at least 50 lbs. Good hearing and vision are required.
