General Information
The Department of Health Professions in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies at James Madison University invites applications for a renewable-term appointment position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy program. The Occupational Therapy program, one of five programs within the Department of Health Professions, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. The faculty member will have opportunities to work collaboratively with faculty from Athletic Training, Dietetics, Health Services Administration, and Physician Assistant Studies programs within the department as well as with faculty in other departments within the College regarding teaching, scholarship, or service.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach graduate courses in an ACOTE-accredited program
- Assist in on-going curricular development, program evaluation, and accreditation activities, including increasing inclusivity and accessibility within the curriculum and program
- Serve as admissions coordinator for the occupational therapy program
- Advise graduate students and supervise graduate student research
- Participate in and mentor scholarship and community-based outreach and training programs
- Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels
- Demonstrate a commitment toward building an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Earned master's degree in occupational therapy or related area
- At least two years of clinical practice experience in teaching content area(s)
- Initial certification as an occupational therapist by NBCOT; Eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Virginia within 6 months of start date
- Documented excellence in teaching
- Commitment to an inclusive environment within and beyond the classroom
- Evidence of a scholarly agenda and achievement
- Record of professional service in the academic or professional setting
Preferred Qualifications - Earned doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related area (post-professional or entry- level)
- Experience or expertise in areas of teaching responsibilities for occupational therapy courses, including but not limited to: practice settings serving the adult and older adult population, functional neuroscience, motor control/motor learning, fieldwork seminar, research, or evidence-based practice
- Record of engagement in scholarly activity
- Responsiveness to the trends, forces, and opportunities facing the occupational therapy profession, and with dynamic vision for preparing future professionals to serve the region's needs
- Evidence of professional service at the state and/or national level

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
