Engineering Project Manager Intern Overview: Precinct 4 Forward Internship Program ( P4FIP) , is an 8-week paid summer internship for students with a passion for serving others.
We’ve designed our program to expose students to career opportunities with Harris County and apply what they have learned in the classroom to hands-on projects. P4FIP provides students the chance to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical professional experience. Students from all schools, and students who identify with a group that is historically underrepresented, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
Interns will create a community to help support their personal and professional development throughout the summer as they launch their career. Interns will work with a mentor, form relationships with other interns, and engage our Senior Leadership Team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist Project Manager(s) to implement/manage assigned projects and programs from inception to construction including feasibility studies, preliminary engineering design, budgeting, resource allocation, bidding phases and construction.
- Complete analysis of roadway condition and serviceability data to determine potential future projects undertaken by Precinct 4.
- Provide technical assistance preparing various forward-looking planning documents, in conjunction with Precinct 4 staff, outside consultants and staff augmentation.
- Complete research on various transportation, drainage, and other relevant topics, synthesize findings into a briefing for senior staff.
- Provide support on the development of briefing materials and presentations to be presented to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.?
- Prepare correspondence, complete forms, and maintain records and files related to work activities.
- Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

[email protected] Requirements Internship Requirements: - Currently enrolled in an educational institution and working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in project management, construction management, civil engineering, or a similar curriculum
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Work independently with limited supervision, relative autonomy, and general review.
- Requires excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to undertake new tasks with little guidance or direct assistance.
- Utilize good time management skills and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks/initiatives.
- Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
- Must be able to solve simple mathematical problems associated with normal work situations.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers, industry and/or governmental representatives.
- Strong skills using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
