Contributes to the organization by leading a high-performing team to ensure compliance efforts supporting the national corporate responsibility program are integrated within the Region. Maintains a strong understanding of the Region’s business portfolio, operations, and local risks. Partners closely with local leaders and delivers compliance expertise and guidance. Contributes to the national corporate responsibility program’s broader capabilities and continuous evolution.
This position requires an in-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory environment affecting healthcare and plays a crucial role in fostering an ethical and compliant culture while supporting the organization’s operational strategies and goals.
Responsibilities - Oversees day-to-day region compliance activities related to reported concerns, investigations, monitoring and auditing, risk assessment, conflicts of interest, compliance policies and procedures, compliance training and education, etc.
- Develops and maintains a high-functioning, effective and engaged team. Responsible for recruitment, professional and career development, training, and performance evaluations for region compliance staff.
- Provides direction, consultative services, guidance, and ongoing education regarding region compliance matters, compliance program efforts and effectiveness local leadership and employees on compliance matters as needed.
- Keeps operational leaders informed of existing and new laws and regulations as they pertain to applicable operational areas within the Region.
- Provides regular compliance reports to applicable region leadership teams, compliance committees, and boards.
- May serve as a Corporate Responsibility Officer for one or more region(s), entity(ies) and/or managed entities (permanently or interim).
- Ensures that processes are in place to address and mitigate compliance risks and identified issues. Partners with the Legal team as needed.
- Collaborates with leadership and the due diligence compliance expert for due diligence and organizational integration efforts involving both growth and divestiture activities within the Region. Works closely with integration teams to enable a smooth transition to the CommmonSpirit Health corporate responsibility program for newly acquired entities.
- Represents the corporate responsibility department by serving on various committees and workgroups as the compliance expert.
- Provides input on national compliance policies and procedures, annual monitoring and auditing plans, processes, tools and resources.
Qualifications Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required - J.D. or Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Finance/Accounting, Business or other related field preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive management and healthcare regulatory compliance experience required. Senior level leadership experience preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience required.
Required Licensure and Certifications
- One of the following is preferred upon hire or required within first year of employment: Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) or Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
