Description The DuPage County Health Department Assistant Director of Billing and Revenue is looking for a new team member to join her team as a Credentialing Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a centralized credentialing process which supports the entire agency. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to ensure compliance with established standards and accreditation requirements. This position will be located at our Central Public Health Center in Wheaton, Illinois. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities - Maintains internal provider credentialing files for all applicable staff members, including creating new and maintaining old provider files.
- Processes applications and reappointment paperwork, checking for full completeness and accuracy; ensures that all personnel and services adhere to facility and staff policies, department guidelines, regulations, and government laws.
- Conducts background checks; ensures timely renewal of licenses and certifications.
- Oversees and maintains provider credentialing tracking system.
- Performs bi-annual audits of credentialing records.
- Maintains participation status with health plans; notifies payers of any provider information changes, additions, and terminations.
- Runs monthly status reports and follows up with any necessary corrective action.
- Processes medical staff applications for appointment and reappointment in a timely manner.
- Works on special projects to support the department; serves as liaison and problem solver to clinical department administrative staff and providers as related to credentialing.
- Supports Billing and Human Resources units with additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Participates in emergency response activities as assigned.
- Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification.
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures.
- Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
- Limits failed billing due to credentialing to less than 5.0% annually.
- Achieves successful external and internal audits as defined by an average compliance rate of 80% or above).
Requirements Completion of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related area and two years of related credentialing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
