Essential Duties:
- Work with the Technical Director (TD) to ensure the rules, regulations, and protocols of JCPRD and Theatre in the park are followed during the build of shows. This is an important step to ensure everyone’s safety.
- Assist the TD with interviewing and hiring of scenic crew staff.
- Train and supervise scenic painters in basic theatre artistic skills.
- Allocate workflow to scenic painters based on workload and skill level.
- Organize and maintain paint shop equipment and promote shop safety.
- Translate designer’s renderings, notes and color elevations into meaningful samples and full scale.
- Consult with the Technical Director, and Assistant Technical Director to determine if the scenic elements, as designed, can be completed with given staff levels and timelines.
- Occasionally carve foam for specialty scenic items.
- Facilitate color mixing, layout, and faux treatment as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated skill in theatrical painting techniques.
- Firm understanding with paint tools/equipment and safety.
- Prior experience supervising paint or production crews.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Familiarity with Vectorworks drafting software.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with both airless and HPLV sprayers.
JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
