A hydrogen fuel cell (FC) provides zero-emission power by converting hydrogen into clean electricity. Located west of Chicago in Bolingbrook, Illinois, Hyzon’s global footprint includes offices in US, Europe, Australia, and China.
The Role The Senior Director of FP&A and Treasury is responsible for leading the FP&A and Treasury function at Hyzon including all areas of budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling and scenario analysis. In addition, this individual will also lead the global treasury cash management operations, including global daily cash position, rolling cash flow forecasting, foreign exchange, and short-term investing/cash management. This is a critical, high-profile position in the Company with direct exposure to, and collaboration with, the Executive Leadership Team. This individual will be closely involved and leading workstreams in high impact areas like capital raising, strategic engagement/corporate development activities, and Board of Directors engagement. This position will also lead a team of FP&A and treasury analysts. This is a hands-on role and represents an opportunity for continued growth as Hyzon continues to scale. This is a unique opportunity to be an integral member of a highly accomplished and collaborative finance team, reporting to the SVP, Finance & Accounting.
What You’ll Do - Serve as a trusted business partner to the key leaders and functions at Hyzon – understanding and being a part of our business is essential to this role.
- Develop strategies and implement plans to ensure the financial health and success of Hyzon by leading the day-to-day processes and tasks of FP&A and treasury.
- Lead monthly reporting to management, recapping the financial performance & key metrics versus budget and forecast.
- Manage FP&A functions including the annual budgeting, long-term planning, and monthly reporting process.
- Create executive level materials that provides insightful financial analysis, meaningful and accurate forecasts, clear explanations of business results, and guidance on financial consequences of strategic decisions while maintaining a focus on efficient use of capital.
- Consolidate total company and provide presentations and reporting analysis to executive leadership, including Board of Directors meetings, investor calls, earnings releases, periodic P&L analyses.
- Create monthly financial reporting packages for use by the CFO and business unit leaders as well as to provide increased focus on analysis of our operating businesses.
- Collaborate with Accounting group to ensure accurate monthly financial close processes.
- Manage the day-to-day treasury functions, including daily cash movements, investments, and foreign exchange.
- Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions and other stakeholders.
- Manage and support short term cash forecasts, including 13-week cash flows.
- Implement and drive process improvements to create a best-in-class FP&A function.
- Lead timely and insightful financial analysis to support our strategic objectives.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications to Be Successful - Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other technical fields such as engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ combined experience in investment banking, corporate FP&A or Treasury
- 5+ years of managerial experience, with a strong track record as a people manager and cross-functional leader.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collegial and entrepreneurial environment that emphasis teamwork and efficiency.
- Advanced analytical and financial skills with strong financial modeling skills in Excel and in-depth understanding of financial systems.
- Finance and accounting experience in a Corporate Finance environment in a publicly traded company.
- Strong oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders in a matrix environment and communicate (detailed to summary, and vice-versa) based on stakeholder requirements.
- Experience in preparing / presenting presentations to C-Level executives and Board levels. Exhibits the art of narrating complex financial details through professional visualization and presentation skill sets.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines while working cross-functionally and collaboratively, prioritize tasks accordingly, and meet the expectations of multiple stakeholders, in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Office expert (e.g., PowerPoint and Excel).
- Candidate must exhibit a strong curiosity for the business to independently identify areas of opportunity and risk across our financial portfolio.
- Self-directed leader and comfort with ambiguity – this individual thrives in taking ownership and navigating through uncharted waters.

Nice To Have - MBA, CPA, and/or CFA.
- Prior experience in Investment Banking, Big4 Accounting, or Consulting Firm working with publicly traded companies.
