The Roaring Fork School District seeks a School Nurse for the 2024_25 school year and beyond.


The School Nurse will provide nursing services to District students PK-12. Previous school nursing experience, and an active CDE School Nurse licensure are preferred, but not necessary. Spanish Speaking ability is a huge plus. This is a salaried, benefited position.


Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or a closely-related field. (RN or above, BSN preferred)

Licensure:


Ability to be licensed through the Colorado Department of Education as a School Nurse.


PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Provides direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school district policies, professional standards of practice, physician's orders, and the Individual Health Plan.
  2. Ensures compliance with all state statutes and laws regarding student health records.
  3. Manages immunization compliance according to state recommendations across schools and preschools under their care.
  4. Prepares and submits reports for the State Board of Health.
  5. Assists in maintaining the health office and log of students needing services; regularly orders health room supplies.
  6. Documents nursing interventions on narrative notes and/or health room log.
  7. Performs vision and hearing screenings and coordinates follow up if needed. May train health aides and parent volunteers to assist.
  8. Administers medication to students according to district and state guidelines.
  9. Develops and manages a school health care plan to meet the student's individual or special health needs in the school setting.
  10. Collaborates with school personnel, students, parents and primary health care providers to develop the health care plan.
  11. Develops and provides health care procedures and provides training for carrying out the services to meet the health needs, known as delegation.
  12. Operates under CDPHE framework to delegate medication administration and nursing tasks to assistive personnel, allowing delegated staff to perform said tasks under the protection of the delegating nurse's professional license.
  13. Acts as a liaison between school, community health care providers, parents and students.
  14. Coordinates medical contacts, referrals and interpretation of medical data.
  15. Communicates with all building principals and efficiently responds to requests for service. Keeps administration informed of significant health related problems.
  16. Supports students receiving special education services who have health needs, including attending IEP meetings as needed.
  17. AED equipment management; coordinates with AED service provider to maintain AED compliance.
  18. Maintains Narcan inventory in AED boxes and as needed, provides training opportunities to staff for Narcan administration.
  19. Enthusiastically participates in implementation of board approved comprehensive health curriculum including sex education.
  20. Other duties as assigned.
Special Education Specific Duties:
  1. Upon case manager request, provide current hearing and vision results for case manager to update in Enrich for students with IEPs.
  2. Update health care plans in the school office. Provide general description in Enrich (IEP system) to provide outline of the basic health care needs for students with severe medical needs.
  3. Attend meetings for students with health care needs that require medical, feeding or other severe health care needs.

Compensation: $50,000 to $75,855 depending on years of experience and education.

**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day (FTE 1) and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
