REPORTS TO: Summer School Principal/Lead Teacher/ESY Coordinator


Term of Employment: Term of Employment: 18 days - June 10 through July 11 (no school July 4th and 5th) Hours for in person classes: 15 hours/week including prep time. 8:00 – 11:45 (3.75 hours)Mondays through Thursdays


RATE OF PAY:
Out of district teacher pay $23.80 per hour
OASD teacher pay $30.00 per hour
OASD teacher pay with 5 consecutive years of summer instruction $35.00 per hour

DESCRIPTION:
The summer school SEL (Social Emotional Learning) counselor will provide social-emotional learning and support to students throughout the summer school session with a focus at the k-8 level.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Holds or is eligible to hold certification as a School Counselor (54) by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
2. Masters degree from an accredited university in School Counseling
3. Previous experience as a school counselor.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Weekly schedule - Create a schedule to position oneself at each summer school site weekly.
2. Collaborate for SEL -
a. Primary focus: Contact summer school teachers to collaborate on whole group or small group SEL instruction weekly per the weekly schedule or provide resources for teachers to incorporate SEL into lessons.
b. Secondary focus: contact enrichment teachers to collaborate on resources, whole group, small group SEL.
3. Provide small group SEL - based on student need as referred by classroom teachers, lead teacher etc.
4. Provide acute/individual SEL - based on student need as referred by classroom teachers, lead teacher etc.
5. Generalize - Provide guidance, follow-ups, check-ins to classrooms with regard to small group and student need to determine the next steps in SEL or ensure generalization of SEL taught.
6. Provide weekly SEL themes & lessons to all summer school teachers for teachers to incorporate into their classes.
7. Provide SEL schedule, lessons, any accompanying data to supervisor.
8. Provide social/ emotional support to students who are struggling in these areas.
9. Support grades 9-12 as needed within the schedule noted for this position.
