Essential Job Functions
The Department of Communication is one of seven departments housed in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University. It offers a comprehensive student experience bringing together all facets of contemporary communication, including a unique blend of five distinct majors: Advertising, Communication Studies, Digital Journalism, Electronic Media/Broadcasting, and Public Relations. This department strives to excel in delivering the best in education, where the humanities, sciences, and technologies meet.

This Administrative Assistant role plays an integral part within the central office of the Department of Communication. Within this large, diverse, and vibrant academic department, this position will oversee and perform all student-related administrative functions, as well as support the Department Chair, Assistant Chairs, and the lead Administrative Assistant.

Essential responsibilities include:

Work Schedule/Hours: In Person, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $36,177-$38,897
