Job description


Summary

Puyallup Playcare Center is searching for an Assistant Teacher to join the team. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:30pm with two 15 minute paid breaks and a half hour lunch. The Assistant Teacher will provide instructional support to the Lead Teacher and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children in a collaborative classroom environment.

Duties

This position involves:
Collaborate with Lead Teacher to implement curriculum, behavior management, classroom maintenance.
Documenting children's development in Teaching Strategies Gold.
Help maintain a positive engaging environment.
Help serve breakfast, snacks and meals.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Complete and pass online Portable Background Check and fingerprint process with the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
Complete pre-service online training requirements shortly after hire if certificate is not possessed. (Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency Preparedness, Mandated Reporter, Homelessness). No cost.
Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 - at least two weeks have passed since your second shot.
Possess current TB test (current is within one year, previous to the date of hire). Center will cover cost if test is needed.
Possess or become CPR/First Aid certified. Center will cover cost.
Possess or obtain Food Handlers Card. Center will cover cost.
Possess or complete the 30-hour Child Care Basics training class within 90 days of employment. Center will cover cost.
Provide documentation of measles immunization or immunity.
Building policy requires masks to be worn in hallways but are not required in classrooms or outdoors.

Nice To Haves

Childcare Basics - Online, provided if not previously taken. Center will cover cost.
CPR/First Aid Certification - Center will pay for class if not completed.
Food Handler Card - Center will pay for class if candidate does not have a current card.
Experience working with children.

Benefits

Sick leave is accrued at the equivalent of one day per month for a total of 12 days per year and can be used after completion of the 90 day probationary period.
Vacation is earned at the rate of one week for years one and two; two weeks for years three and four; and three weeks for years five and beyond.
Ten hours of professional development pay can be earned annually when attending workshops and training classes.
