Job description
Overview:
- We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with interest in antibody engineering.
- The candidate will participate in Genentech’s efforts to accelerate drug development with AI and ML by producing and characterizing new antibodies.
- This individual will possess a general background in molecular biology and in assay development.
- The qualified candidate should have proven ability to execute and interpret experiments, present results to cross-disciplinary teams and solve problems rapidly. Good communication and collaboration skills are a strong requirement.
- This position provides an excellent opportunity to learn about and pursue interests in cutting edge antibody engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with external vendors to obtain synthetic antibody genes.
- Use of advanced molecular biology techniques to clone antibody genes.
- Coordinate antibody expression and purification with other teams at Genentech.
- Characterize the antibodies using high-throughput screening platforms (ELISA, SPR).
- All workflows involve automation (liquid handlers) and to maintain accurate records in centralized databases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BS) or Master's degree (MS) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on research experience in an academic or biotech industry setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in core molecular biology techniques and principles.
- Experience with interaction assays (ELISA, SPR) is a plus.
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems and screening platforms is a plus.
- Proficient in computer operations, scientific data analysis software and database entry.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities, keen attention to details, strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $31.01/hour-$41.34/hour
