Job description
Directs the activity of gardeners in creating and maintaining a flawless landscape environment for our guests. Oversees the installation, maintenance, and care of all greenery, irrigation systems, and irrigation cycles of all varieties of ornamental plants,
trees, and shrubs providing an aesthetically beautiful Park and environment. Maintains all lakes, streams, and ornamental water systems. Assists in the control of pests and weeds throughout the Parks.
Salary details: $28.64/hr. - $36.20/hr., based on experience
- Lead and direct the gardening staff in the planting, trimming, pruning of shrubs, ground covers, vines, trees, and palms with hand-held tools and power equipment. This includes manually removing, installing, and maintaining plant material in planter beds and containers. Cleaning fountains and lakes as needed.
- Oversee the trimming of trees and shrubs as required to maintain plant material health, aesthetic quality, and adequate clearances around rides, lighting, roadways, midways, signage, buildings, safety equipment and other items.
- Install, maintain, and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems in assigned areas.
- Assists with the installation of fencing, barriers, and benches as required.
- Oversee and assist with the control and removal of wild and feral animals that may encroach on Park property.
- Oversees and provides assistance with a variety of general labor projects as assigned.
- Oversees and trains on the proper installation and maintenance of various types of ornamental plants, flowers, and trees throughout a large amusement facility.
- Ability to safely operate and train on the effective use of a variety of power trimming, mowing, and tilling equipment, such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, tractors, tillers, etc. as required by job assignment.
- High school diploma / GED required.
- Vocational / technical training in Landscaping, Horticulture or a related field, preferred.
- Certifications preferred: Cat. B Qualified Applicator Certificate, California Dept. of Pesticide Regulation and Arborist.
- 2-4 years of equivalent work experience preferred.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays as needed per business needs.
- Must possess a valid California Driver License, Class C or greater.
- Must be able to work outdoors for entire shift in all weather and lighting conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights and from ladders and platforms.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and perform repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be able to work in areas with exposure to loud noises requiring the use of hearing protection, and dusty conditions requiring the use of dust respirators.
