Job Description Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Writer and Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive documentation for substation projects, including Field Inspection Test Plans (FITPs), Instruction Books, and Training materials. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness of our documentation, as well as providing training to internal staff and external stakeholders.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain Field Inspection Test Plans (FITPs) for substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. Create clear and comprehensive Instruction Books for various substation equipment and systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and protective devices. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and technical specifications for documentation. Write and edit technical content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards and guidelines. Design and deliver training programs for internal staff and external stakeholders on substation equipment, procedures, and best practices. Conduct reviews and revisions of existing documentation to incorporate updates, improvements, and feedback. Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in substation technology to continually enhance documentation and training materials. Provide technical support and assistance to project teams as needed, including field visits and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Writing, or related field. Proven experience as a technical writer in the energy or utilities sector, with a focus on substation documentation. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components commonly used in substations. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely. Experience developing Field Inspection Test Plans (FITPs) and Instruction Books preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective training programs for technical subjects. Proficiency with documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
