Job Summary

This job involves working as an engineer in the Gas Planning & Design organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Based on the value of the Gas utility infrastructure, the number of customers (over 1.8 million) served and total Gas sales (over 158,800 MMCF) places PSE&G Gas Transmission & Distribution in the top ten of all Gas Utilities in the United States. The position will be remote local and based out of The Newark General Office.

Job Responsibilities

Areas of on responsibility include the following: Conduct engineering work utilizing engineering principles and practices and adapting it to the assigned discipline in support of work planning and facilities design of natural gas system requirements associated with the GSMP and Capital Main Replacement program. Ensure regulatory compliance and system reliability. Coordinate and review work of project managers, engineers and technicians assigned to the discipline. Partner with Districts and Division scheduling and layout groups to plan and monitor all work to ensure that budget and work units meet plan. Act as consultant to other external and internal clients. Perform system simulation studies. Expand knowledge of PSE&G operations through Company development programs and on-the-job training. Oversee special projects involving technical, field personnel, consultants, and contractors. Provide technical assistance in implementing special programs and new processes. Provide technical support and problem resolution during system activities.

Job Specific Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil Engineering 
• Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
• Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
• Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed
• Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
• Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.
• Candidate must be able to interface effectively with a diverse organization and have excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and must maintain and apply a working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls. Must possess a valid U.S. driving license and maintain a safe driving record.

 
Desired:
• Experience with gas utility facilities e.g. pipelines, regulators, meters.
• Experience in working on gas facility designs, layout, and system modeling analyses.
• Advanced technical degree/training/certification, Six Sigma, EIT or P.E license.
• Familiarity with gas utility best practices, Federal, NJ Administrative, and ASME/ASTM pressure piping codes and Company tariff.
