Job description
The Development director is responsible for coordinating and implementing fundraising strategies. This position oversees strategies for increased revenue through grant writing, donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition. Prior experience in fundraising is required, with an emphasis on strong relationships. The position must follow all center policies and state child care center regulations .
The Development Director provides general support to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Program Director, and Site Director as necessary and assigned.
Major Donor Fundraising
The Development Director will lead the fundraising efforts of the organization in conjunction with the Executive Director, s ecure new and renewed gifts. t rack and report on progress to budget goals to ED and Board, including grants, gifts, and pledges.
This position will serve as the primary relationship manager for prospective donors for operational support and growth campaigns by developing and implementing a written donor strategy. The Development Director will c ommunicate with current and prospective donors through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings, and written communication strategies such as newsletters and social media; and ensure that each major donor and prospect has a thoughtful design and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Event planning in collaboration with the leadership team and accurate record keeping and reporting using various software products will also be expected of the Development Director.
This position will require a minimum of a bachelor's degree for consideration with preference for a master's degree. Additionally, the following skills are also required.
This position is designed to be an administrative position and physical requirements include the use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; talk to and hear voices at many levels. Additionally, it may also be required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl, and move quickly to areas of need over various types of terrain. Candidates should also have a specific vision ability to see up close and up to a certain distance and have peripheral vision and depth perception.
The Development Director is a year-round, full-time position. Primary hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., requiring occasional evening and weekend hours. This position will be a hybrid position with approximately 50% of the work being done remotely.
