Job description

Position Summary

This job specializes in NDT methods, such as x-ray inspection, ultrasonic testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, qualification of NDT procedures, and personnel qualification and certification. While the above duties make up a significant portion of the job, there will be times that you will perform the production NDT tasks.  Another part of this job will be to help in other non-NDT Quality Control related inspections (these would require in-house training).

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL


• Analysis and resolution of NDT issues and completing actions towards resolution.
• Development and implementation of NDT requirements and procedures. 
• In this role, you will be assisting, doing and/or training other personnel with the production NDT needs.
• Ensuring that radiation safety activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements in the daily operation of the licensee's program.
• Manages the radiation safety training program to ensure that only authorized, qualified individuals work with radiation; manages the personnel dosimetry program to limit radiation exposure to radiation users and ensure compliance with Company policies and regulatory exposure limits.
• Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the program/project.
• Support the organization's drive towards excellence in Health and Safety performance.  This includes but is not limited to conducting Stop observations, attending HSE related meetings, supporting HSE improvement projects and any other related tasks deemed appropriate by the Manager.
• Would be expected to learn and demonstrate other non-NDT Quality Control functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED


• Some experience in NDE procedure assessments, NDE procedure development, and NDE problem resolution.
• Has experience working closely and with and/or under a Radiation Safety Officer.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an RT level 2 and have a valid ASNT IRRSP card.
• Familiar with desktop software applications, MS Office is required.

DESIRED


• In order of importance, has Level 2 certifications not only in RT, but also UT/PT/VT/MT methods.
• Has experience as a Radiation Safety Officer.
• Should have working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Additional Information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered SHOP/INDOORS which is characterized as follows.  

• Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night. 
• Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment. 
• When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%.
• Noise is over 85 decibels, and light is intense/glare. 
• Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
• Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.

This position is considered MEDIUM work.

OCCASIONAL

• Lift 50-100 pounds
• Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on his stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands. 
• Differentiate between colors. 
• Wear PPE for skin protection.

FREQUENT

• Lift 25-50 pounds
• Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects. 
• Twist, sit with back supported, head forward/flexed, head tilted/rotated.
• Work with arms extended overhead.
• Operate a motor vehicle.


CONSTANT

• Lift 10-20 pounds.
• Wear PPE for body, vision, and hearing protection.
