General Statement of Duties Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, March 11, 2024. Provides technical and administrative support to the County purchasing office and staff; does related work as required. Essential Duties Some knowledge of the laws, practices and applicable procedures used in governmental purchasing; good knowledge of and proven skill in the use of a personal computer and the ability to learn and effectively use commonly utilized business software packages; proven customer service skills and the ability to deal courteously, tactfully and effectively with vendors and their representatives; ability to develop and maintain effective and harmonious relationships with representatives from other County agencies and departments; ability to develop and maintain an effective filing and recordkeeping system; proven organizational skills; good knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the management of surplus property, including administering online auctions and conducting warehouse sales. Administrative tasks related to surplus property transfers and sales will also be part of the duties. Exceptional customer service skills are essential for interacting with both internal and external stakeholders. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50lbs, with a preference for candidates holding a forklift license. Additional responsibilities include transporting obsolete personal property for scrap metal sale or disposal and providing support to other Purchasing Support Specialists with purchasing tasks such as contract renewals and record retention. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school and four (4) years of related experience, preferably in a purchasing environment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
