The Associate Manager will be responsible for completing the regulatory work for the Food and Beverage business and applicable joint ventures, with a focus on Animal Nutrition, for the U.S. and Canada. The Associate Manager is responsible for regulatory document development and compilation for registration/market access as well as pre- and post-launch compliance activities with a focus on the feed application portfolio.
The Association manager position requires at least Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related scientific field and 12 years of experience or Masters with 9 years' experience in several aspects of regulatory processes. Background in biology is required to understand both general animal nutrition as well as the biological basis for assessing the safety and efficacy of our enzymes and other biological products for use in animal feed. This involves knowledge of acute toxicology, fate of the bioproducts in the digestive tract, and potential exposure to humans consuming the resulting meat, milk and eggs.
Job Requirements
- Responsible for overall management of the Animal Nutrition product portfolio.
- Draft submissions such as US feed GRAS, US AAFCO submissions, and Canadian feed approvals.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the Animal Nutrition business, which includes livestock and pet food applications.
- Conduct monthly calls with the North American Market Animal Nutrition Regional Industry Leader and drafting submissions to support the Animal Nutrition business and pet food businesses.
- Meet with feed related R&D teams to provide regulatory guidance.
- Participate in advocacy feed organizations such as the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada, American Feed Industry Association, and the Enzyme Technical Association Feed Committee for Canadian and U.S. related regulatory work.
- Oversee all U.S. state feed license work.
- Manage work related to U.S. state license and tonnage fees.
- Provide regulatory support to non-Animal Nutrition businesses.
- Draft submissions and provide regulatory guidance to R&D groups for businesses such as Food Enzymes, Dairy and Cultures, and Grains Processing, especially for pet food applications
- Contribute to global regulatory compliance programs for IFF marketed products in conjunction with global GRA team and product management.
- Update Registration List to communicate the status of the US and Canadian regulatory projects, participate on GRA calls and working groups related to global regulatory work.
- Participate in projects regarding improving regulatory processes within GRA
- Upload and maintain documentation and improve documentation of U.S. and Canadian work.
Additional experience requirements include:
- Experience in preparing clear, accurate regulatory submissions/dossiers or similar documents (e.g., technical reports/scientific papers, risk assessments).
- Experience successfully impacting product introductions by providing regulatory & safety guidance and/or successfully influenced decisions to implement change.
- Experience in interaction with and education of regulatory agencies and trade associations and track record in product clearance/registrations and regulatory advocacy.
- In depth knowledge and recognized for leadership & innovation in managing regulatory submissions to FDA and CFIA.
- Successfully implemented complex/controversial regulatory policies and strategies, and/or systems to improve regulatory data communication.
- Demonstrated forming influence on the department (can be in non-technical/scientific manner) and/or strong impact on the success of future products and processes.
- Demonstrated continuous learning mindset and flexibility to expand expertise into new industries, applications, and jurisdictions.
Compensation ($105.600 - 118.800) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
