Position Description:A postdoctoral research scholar position is available in the Department of Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa. Research in the laboratory is broadly focused on airway mucosal immunology, particularly, the immunologic link between the nose and lungs and how nasal virus infection causes asthma exacerbation (currently supported by an NIH R01 Grant). Research in the lab ranges from immunology, basic molecular biology, virology, to measurements of physiological/immunologic parameters in small animal models of virus infection.
Education Requirement:Candidates must have an MD or a PhD in a biological science field.
Required Qualifications:Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
Lab experience in virology, basic molecular biology methods, immunology (such as analyzing APCs, T cells, B cells, T cells and other innate immunocytes using immunologic methods), evaluation of humoral immune response, experience with handling mice including generation of mouse models and tissues processing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
Desirable Qualifications:Previous training in immunology is desired.
Lab experience in respiratory medicine, respiratory cell biology, RNA-sequencing, previous training in microscopic surgery. These qualifications are desired but no required.
