Position Summary/Description:

Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as virtual. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.

The Sponsored Programs Office ( SPO ) is an administrative unit within the School of Medicine ( SOM )under the purview of the Vice Dean for Research. SPO is fully committed to supporting the research mission of the School and protecting the overall interest and integrity of the University and School of Medicine. Our goal is to offer the highest level of customer service and research administration expertise.

The SPO staff function as a team responsible for the review, approval, and submission of the SOM
grant proposals to the NIH , foundations and non-profit organizations providing final universitysignature on behalf of the Vice Chancellor for Research. The SOM researchers typically initiateapproximately 50% of all grant proposals submitted from the University. The SPO serves in asupporting role to the SOM departments, centers, and programs. We conduct a careful review/analysisof proposals and work with the administering units to ensure adherence to all relevant policies ofthe University and funding agencies and compliance with any applicable State and/or Federal regulations. Our team also reviews/submits JIT materials and corresponds with the sponsoring agency representatives to provide information as required.

Education and Experience:

Prior research administration experience. Experience working in a central office of research administration with pre-award grant responsibilities. Preference for a Certified Research Administrator.
