Job description

Under the direction and supervision of the Transportation Coordinator and Day Program Manager, the Day Program Driver will be responsible for planning and coordinating routes, as well as, coordinating and scheduling maintenance of all RCS vehicles. Work includes but is not limited to inspecting all Agency vehicles, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are met, investigating emergencies and accidents, and maintaining vehicle records.

The Day Program Driver demonstrates knowledge of Richmond’s quality mission, vision, and values. In addition, this position actively participates in quality improvement projects (i.e. communicating issues, offering suggestions) to ensure ongoing excellence of Richmond residents, staff, and programs.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Assists with planning and coordinating trip routes for incoming and outgoing Day Program sites. Adjusts schedules and routes based on census.
  2. Assists in the planning and coordination of vehicle maintenance for all Agency vehicles.
  3. Assists with ensuring proper care and maintenance of vehicles and ensures vehicle malfunctions are promptly reported for repair. Responds/Troubleshoots all Vehicle Maintenance Request forms within 24 hours. Fields telephone calls regarding questions about vehicle concerns.
  4. Assists with transporting vehicles to repairs shops, as needed. Acquires replacement vehicles and transfers it to required location.
  5. Assists with planning routine maintenance service schedules for all Agency vehicles (including winterizing, weather emergency preparation, tire rotation, oil changes). Maintains vehicle servicing records.
  6. Inspects vehicles for cleanliness and ensures proper care of equipment, including seat covers, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc. Coordinates/ Schedules vehicle cleaning (interior /exterior).
  7. Provides driving instruction and testing for Richmond Driver Authorization. Observes and evaluates candidates for authorization.
  8. Assists with conducting review of vehicle inspection and registration records to ensure compliance with state law; coordinates renewals as needed.
  9. Enforces NYS and Agency driving regulations and laws.
  10. Assists with reporting vehicular vandalism and other unsafe circumstances or security issues (including police reports). Checks vehicles parked and makes general checks for possible vandalism after periods when vandalism is like to occur (Halloween, events).
  11. Update and maintain EZ-Pass Accounts
  12. Maintains confidentiality regarding employee information, testing results, MVR reports, etc.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator and/or Day Program Manager.

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:

• Strong commitment to RCS mission and values and to working with individuals with MR/DD and their families.

• Valid, clean NYS driver’s license required. With at least three years of driving experience.

• Must complete and maintain Richmond Driver Authorization.

• Must be available for occasional overtime and early morning/night hours.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• Must successfully complete and maintain certification for required training in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Pay starting from $18.15 to $20.44, pay commensurate based upon experience.
