Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a User Support Specialist IV for the Office of Information Technology within the School of Public Health.

Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, supports the SPH end-user community (faculty, staff, students) in the effective access and use of University information resources and compliance with infrastructure and operating standards. The primary purpose of the User Support Specialist IV position is to provide support for all technical questions concerning desktop software and hardware. From a client perspective, the OIT group provides users assistance in initiating, maintaining and troubleshooting an existing service. Provides training to end-user Windows and Mac-based platforms and other current or progressive desktop environment. Consults with leadership at OIT and keeps current with the latest desktop environment. As appropriate, facilitates the migration of end user desktop computers and provides the first level of support of all SPH faculty, staff and students.

Among the duties are: 

• Provides basic personal computer support functions for all SPH Computer Laboratories.
• Provides IT helpdesk/customer service tasks such as hardware/software troubleshooting, smart classroom A/V support.
• Maintain the SPH website via simple edits and updates.
• Relates with the end-user community within the school in a manner that promotes confidence in the client as a professional service-oriented organization.
• Answers end-user questions or researches and responds to the question within an appropriate time.
• Provide and record educational content through seminars, lectures, or other mechanisms as required by OIT Leadership with a working knowledge of Mediasite recorders for live streaming and integrated content capture for complete automation
• Provides one-on-one end-user problem resolution remotely or in person for the school's end user environment.
• Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems, computer hardware/software problems, e-mail,
• Internet, and local-area network access problems, mobile devices (Smartphones and tablets), approved applications.
• Coordinates timely repair or replacement of current hardware (desktop, laptop, printer, mobility) and critical software upgrades covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
• Provides timely and efficient responses to customer inquiries and escalates to tech lead to assist with resolution as necessary.
