The Strategic Systems Engineering Test Equipment group at Draper is seeking a Test Equipment Development Engineer to work within multidisciplinary teams to develop and provide full system lifecycle development and management of complex electrical, mechanical and software-based test equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Development of strategic systems and sensor systems and enabling equipment and infrastructure through the product lifecycles
- Gain a strong understanding of the Deployed System, Unit Under Test system to derive requirements, design and architecture for System Enhancements/New Capabilities, Failure Resolution or New Systems
- Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering approaches to develop open/flexible architectures to be used across programs and units under test
- Develop, maintain and upgrade hardware, software, simulations, enabling systems, integration and test infrastructure for new and existing systems
- Apply strong systems engineering principles to system develop process, or product development process which could include leading the Integration & Test processes and data package development and release
- Key job elements include the ability to translate requirements and functions of the units under test including highly accurate strategic sensors, inertial navigation systems and fault tolerant computing for enhanced ground testing, integration and test environments, engineering qualification, surveillance, and factory acceptance test equipment architecture (e.g. rate tables, centrifuges)
Required Qualifications :
- M.S. Degree in in ME, EE, CE/CS or Physics or a B.S. and 2+ years of experience
- The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working at a high technical level with minimal supervision.
- Experience in developing and documenting related activities (plans, procedures, software or hardware design documentation).
- Excellent communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills are required working in a process driven environment complying with procedures.
- The ability to document designs for distribution and present to a technical audience is desired.
- Comfortable working with lab equipment (scopes, meters, power supplies), Hardware in the Loop, and embedded software environments
- Systems engineering experience relevant to Architecture, Development, Enhancemnt, or Integration and Test Execution and Planning.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or systems engineering development process
- System data analysis utilizing system simulations and HWIL environments
- Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: GN&C systems, inertial instruments, vibration, signal processing, data acquisition and analysis, control theory, system modeling and test, integration and test of HW and SW elements, electronics-based components and subassemblies (breadboard HW, etc.).
- Domain experience with experience for strategic GN&C systems, sensors or electronics modules
- Experience with requirements management - including development and traceability
