Kerr Industries, a subsidiary of Safe Fleet, is seeking a Production Supervisor responsible for supporting our automotive upfitting team. Our upfitters modify factory vehicles into police and emergency vehicles through installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, consoles, and more. Previous experience with similar items and work is beneficial.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a high energy role with plenty of time spent on the production floor observing and overcoming issues to ensure scheduled production demands are met. The ideal Production Supervisor has proven leadership skills with an ability to bring improvements and efficiencies to the team. This role is key in helping the company improve the training, skills, and abilities of our production team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the scheduling department to plan, direct, and assign production employees to align job scheduling needs and production demands.
• Actively monitor production from the shop floor to prevent issues & delays
• Identify and manage performance issues and training needs to support the development of employees in efficiencies, quality, and safety.
• Tracking for various aspects of production (ie: efficiency, consistency, FPY, etc)
• Enforce and uphold company policies.
• Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders to provide excellent customer service.
• Conduct toolbox meetings on a frequent basis to inform employees of news, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and on-floor communication.
• Coordinate with materials delivery to the shop floor to support daily production.
• Ensure the production space and building are clean and maintained.
• Open and close the shop each day.
• Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with ERP systems
• Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Must be comfortable working in a light industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties. Work will involve frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.
• Will work independently, maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company.
• Have automotive and/or electrical experience
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Be focused on quality and have attention to detail
• Be comfortable in an exciting, fast-paced environment

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Microsoft NAV
• Previous relevant experience in automotive industry
• Previous relevant experience in automotive upfitting and 12 volt installations
