Job description
We are looking for a conscientious and collaborative Head of Maintenance to join the Operations Leadership team at Burial Beer Co. The Head of Maintenance will lead the maintenance team in helping to ensure coworkers and guests enjoy a safe and reliable experience with Burial's equipment, buildings, and grounds
The Job
The Head of Maintenance oversees the installations, repairs, and upkeep of Burial's equipment, buildings, and grounds to ensure the ever-increasing reliability of the following business assets (non-exhaustive):
- Production systems, such as brewhouse, PLC/controls, cellar tanks, centrifuge, pumps, boiler, glycol, temp probes, mills, augers, presses, compressors, packaging lines and other devices
- Building systems, such as structures, landscapes, electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, bar and restaurants fixtures and furniture, and other devices
- Logistics systems, such as vehicles, lifts, racking, and other devices
- Security systems, including management of access for staff
What You'll Do
- Serve on Burial's operations leadership team
- Develop an overall maintenance strategy in accordance with Burial's mission, values, and vision
- Provide heart-centered leadership to the maintenance team via task assignment, goal setting, and training
- Develop standard operating procedures and policies for all maintenance work
- Compile and manage the overall repair and maintenance budget
- Hire and manage contractors and equipment vendors for specialized maintenance work, negotiating and establishing contracts as needed
- Implement workplace safety standards, SOP's, and policies
- Partner with other Burial leaders to establish and manage the appropriate preventative management schedules and spare parts inventories for the assets in their respective segments of the business
- Establish and manage a system for receiving, prioritizing, assigning, and communicating about maintenance requests
- Employ use of project management tools and best practices for installations and improvements
- Respond to emergency calls for maintenance during normal work hours and outside normal work hours, where necessary
- Provide regularly scheduled training to Production and Retail teams on ways to improve the life of the assets they use, and to utilize self-help to repair
- Model a focus on analytical troubleshooting and the applying of lessons learned
- Report to COO on maintenance service levels, challenges, and investments needed
- Complete up to 10 hours annually of continuing education, co-selected with the COO
- Complete equipment maintenance training, in accordance with business needs and as suggested by manufacturers or contractors

- Proven success as a maintenance manager or in a related managerial role
- Experience in planning and supervising maintenance operations
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of maintenance best practices
- Experience with and working knowledge of manufacturing systems, equipment, and tools, preferably for beverages or other batch product
- Experience with and working knowledge of bar and restaurant systems, equipment, and tools
- Experience with and working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Solid understanding of business finances and experience with budget management
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, etc.
- Familiarity in drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics
- Comfort with a high level of documentation and record-keeping
- Desire and initiative for teaching others

- Job Schedule: generally M-F 8am-4pm
