Job description
GPS Technician (Construction)
The GPS Technician is a seasonal position intended to support horizontal and vertical excavation controls, material placement, pavement milling, and asphalt paving operations. The technician will be an essential crew member for various aspects of the construction process for multiple projects around Bismarck. Specifically, setti ng up GPS and total station positioning equipment, calibrating sites, loading 3D models onto machine-controlled equipment and rover data collectors, line and grade verification, and point stakeout. The technician would also work with equipment operators and management staff, confirming that all planned and specified lines and grades are being achieved. Additional responsibilities would include reading and understanding construction plans, setting up and takedown of GPS base and rover receivers, and total stations and related handheld equipment. Must have the ability to follow all Strata Corporation company policies and procedures for a safe working environment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions around heavy equipment and other machinery. The assistant must also adhere to the project's PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by the company.
