Job description
Overview
Min Rate = $45.30 / Max Rate = $65.69 *Placement is in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Units Agreement.
Delivers daily radiation therapy treatments, simulations, treatment field localization, block fabrication, as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Performs technical procedures according to prescribed standards to ensure maximum patient focused care and safety.

*Employee cannot work more than 832 hours per calendar year.
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the adult to geriatric cancer patient and is able to: a) state age specific needs and behviors, b) modify care to meet these needs and behaviors.
- Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients while carefully observing the patient at all times.
- Performs quality control tests on radiation producing equipment with accurate record keeping.
- Performs simulation and treatment field localization.
- Designs and constructs specialized patient treatment devices such as molds, custom blocks, etc.
- Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
- Produces/checks port film for all treated areas.
- Participates in weekly chart rounds and patient conferences, as requested.
- Participates in quality assurance monitoring of treatment parameters, chart checks, etc., as requested.
- Demonstrates competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Monitors patients for side effects. Reports patient problems to either radiation oncology nurse or radiation oncologist.
- Attends annual inservices or emergency procedure review and radiation safety procedures.
- Completes appropriate billing on a daily basis according to Radiation Oncology FCC guidelines.
- Communicates opportunities with other team members for improvements.
- Complete prior authorizations.
- Reconciles billing daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of AMA accredited radiation therapy Associates Degree program. Bachelors preferred.
- Certification/registration ARRT required.
- New York State licensure required.
- Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with extemely ill or apprehensive patients.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
