Job Title: Behavioral Health Clinician
Department : Housing Services
Grade: 5
Reports to: Director of Housing Services
Hours: Full-time, exempt, 35 hours per week. Early morning and/or later evening hours required but are flexible.
Hiring Bonus: $500 at the successful completion of 3 months and additional $1,000 after the completion of 6 months.
Summary: The Behavioral Health Clinician provides individual and group counseling services to guests at Action Inc.'s Emergency Shelter, clients in the Housing First program, as well as other Housing Services clients, as capacity allows. The (BHC) is based out of the emergency shelter located in Gloucester.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one behavioral health counseling to individuals who have experienced or are currently experiencing homelessness.
- Facilitate support and psychoeducational groups, seeking feedback on topics from clients and staff.
- Employ trauma informed, recovery oriented, strengths-based, and person-centered treatment techniques that are culturally aware and informed.
- Engage in brief intervention therapy, making referrals to community resources and ensuring a smooth transition.
- Stay knowledgeable of and collaborate with other community services to ensure appropriate referrals and services for clients.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client communication and meetings.
- Enter and update information on clients served in internal database in a timely fashion, meeting all mandatory deadlines.
- Attend staff meetings to review group and individual issues within the Shelter and Housing First programs.
- Attend and participate in departmental, organization-wide and other meetings.
- Participate in biweekly supervision with the Director of Housing Services, who is an LICSW and can provide clinical supervision for licensure.
- Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required, Master's preferred
- Must have Licensure or be license eligible
- Two or more years of previous, relevant experience
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
