Job description
As a Structural Engineer at Flatiron, you will contribute to the structural design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, including major and unique structural features. You will work collaboratively with specialized multi-disciplinary engineering teams to provide technical insight and resolve design and construction challenges. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing technical reviews, engineering analysis, and presenting analysis and review findings at technical meetings.

- Collaborate with senior engineers on the structural design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, including major and unique structural features.
- Support technical due-diligence review of design deliverables to implement best practice for design and construction needs, develop innovative and optimized solutions, identify and mitigate key design risks, ensure compliance with contract and industry requirements .
- Provide support in engineering analysis and evaluation, including utilizing advanced analysis techniques for structural modeling.
- Support specialized design coordination and liaison with external and internal Parties to provide technical insight and resolve design and construction challenges.
- Perform technical reviews and engineering analysis in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
- Participate and present analysis, review findings, and recommendations at technical meetings, as requested.
- Support efforts to capture and spread design innovation and lessons learned to all Districts.
- Maintain knowledge of Flatiron’s company values and strategic plan.
- Support published corporate policies.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction .
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering required.
- Master's Degree or Doctorate (PhD) in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE and/or P.Eng. ) license preferred.
- Strong academic background in Structural Engineering is highly valued.
- 1-5 years of experience in the design of various bridge types in both concrete and steel, with knowledge of staged-construction analysis, or related experience in the construction industry is highly valued.
- Experience with industry design codes and standards .
- Proficiency in analytical and numerical industry design software is beneficial (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Familiarity with various bridge types design and construction, foundation design principles, structural dynamics / seismic analysis, and numerical modeling in the field of structural engineering is advantageous.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and management skills are highly valued.
