Job description
General Description:
The Estimator collaborates with estimators, project managers, pre-con team, and account managers to produce accurate, concise, and consistent construction project repair estimates.
Essential Duties:
- Creates accurate project cost estimates for submittal to clients
- Conducts job site observations to fully understand scopes of work
- Tracks and meets deadlines set by clients and managers
- Reads, interprets, and understands plans and repair specifications from engineers and architects
- Generate PRFI's to engineers and/or architects based on repair design or repair scope
- Incorporates OSHA and building code requirements into all estimates
- Qualifies and contacts new and existing subcontractors to bid specific trade items
- Continuous solicitation and expansion of subcontractor trade base, including qualifying new subcontractors
- Proficient use of Xactimate, On-Screen-Takeoff, Bluebeam, Procore and/or other estimating software
- Work with and build relationships with subcontractors, engineers, architects, and clients
- Works as a team with other RE employees
- Reports to work as scheduled
- Meets regularly with manager to review progress of ongoing jobs and to discuss problem decisions outside of his/her limits of his/her authority/control
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer and plans
- Be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces for moderate periods of time
- Be able to climb ladders and stairs throughout day and be able to work/inspect work at a height of over 6 feet
- Be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, twist, reach, push, pull and grasp throughout the day
- Be able to work more than 40 hours per week when requested
- Vision to read printed materials
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over telephone
- Be able to work outside in all weather

- Strong knowledge of construction methods and safety laws.
Experience and Education:
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an estimator with a commercial general contractor
- Reconstruction experience a plus
- High School diploma required
- Degree in construction management, building science, engineering, architecture or equivalent
