Easterseals Central Texas began in 1937 as the Texas Society for Crippled Children. In 1949, a small building was dedicated as the Austin Cerebral Palsy Center serving a small population of Central Texas residents. Almost twenty years later, we became the Capital Area Rehabilitation Center, expanding our services, programs, and the persons served. Today, our services are focused on multiple areas of care that create successful outcomes for clients from birth to advanced age. YOUR LIFE AS A PROGRAM SPECIALIST - SPECIAL NEEDS

This deaf habilitation position with our human services nonprofit works full-time.

As a Program Specialist - Special Needs at the Vaughn House , you work at a nonprofit that helps adults who are deaf and have intellectual and developmental disabilities. You ensure client participation in daily activities, including community-based outings with social and recreational activities. Each day you assist the Day Habilitation Program Manager with scheduling and assigning daily tasks and responsibilities. In this specialist role, you are responsible for compliance with required training, not limited to CPR/First Aid, safety, infectious disease, and de-escalation techniques.

Your special needs program implementation is phenomenal! The services, activities, and programs you implement for the hard of hearing or those with special needs support individual goals and behavior plans. Every day you monitor and respond accordingly to those exhibiting unusual aggressive or high-risk behavior. You follow all reporting guidelines related to incidents and exercise patience for those you serve. When you work, you help create opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live satisfying, independent, and productive lives. Through this deaf and special needs program role, you build strong friendships that can last a lifetime. You realize that working with this human services nonprofit is vastly important and know that you are making a difference in your clients' lives.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
