MSP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, responding to domestic violence and human trafficking in Westchester County, New York, by providing multi-lingual, trauma-informed legal and supportive services. We bolster our work with clients by engaging in extensive outreach and community education, strengthening the systemic response to all forms of gender-based violence.
In collaboration with the New York School for the Deaf (NYSD) MSP is seeking to hire a Project Coordinator to lead Linking Communities Collaboration, a multi-layered initiative to bring critical services to survivors in the Deaf community. The Project Coordinator will participate in a detailed process that involves technical assistance through Activating Change and the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women to ensure that program goals are met. The Project Coordinator will be skilled in project management, leadership and collaboration building.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Lead Linking Communities Collaboration and MSP staff through implementation activities such as: a customized Barrier Removal Plan for office and residential sites; Healthy Relationships workshops for students at NYSD; review and revision of organizational policies and procedures; community education on domestic violence in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community; staff training on understanding the dynamics of domestic violence in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and Deaf culture; contribute to the creation of accessible outreach materials
- Build and strengthen relationships with collaborative team members within NYSD and between NYSD and MSP
- Set meeting agendas, facilitate meetings, draft minutes, and follow-up on key issues to maintain accountability among collaboration members to the agreed upon work process, tasks, and timeline
- Ensure consistency of collaboration’s work with grant program’s goals
- Represent the agency and collaboration at local and national meetings
- Work collaboratively with staff across My Sisters’ Place
- Maintain program statistics in compliance with funding requirements and objectives
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Travel required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have Excellent American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills
- Extensive experience interacting with the Deaf community strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work policy, Public Health, Human Services, or related field; plus a minimum of 3 years related experience required
- Knowledge of intimate partner violence and victimization a plus
- Excellent project management and facilitation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with individuals who have varying ASL linguistic skills and cognitive levels
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to build relationships and manage conflict
- A passion for planning
- Understanding of anti-oppression work
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle

Salary range : $60,000 - $68,000 depending on experience
