The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and collaborative Project Manager and Architect with the ability to lead the development of both small and large facility design and construction projects at new or existing Caterpillar sites both within the US and worldwide. In this role you’ll will work closely with internal customers and multiple stakeholders to manage, design, and build owned and leased facilities. You will also serve as a subject matter expert with deep technical skills in facilities and workplace strategies. You will also have the opportunity to lead facilities related internal processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

In this position you’ll specialize in project management with workplace strategies and architectural design expertise for large scope projects. You’ll have a broad understanding and experience with building systems and operations along with a deep understanding and extensive expertise in owner led project management and construction management.

• Provide concurrent facilities project leadership for multiple geographically diverse and high complexity facilities projects in a dynamic environment including large scope projects of $10M and more in value.
• Lead facilities project management activities including cost estimating; managing communications; and controlling scope, budget, schedule, and risk within defined project parameters.
• Provide both project management and technical support for office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities.
• Perform an enterprise stewardship role with facilities project management and architectural competencies expertise. Manages related internal processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership with construction industry and enterprise standards, policies, and practices for safety, accounting, purchasing, schedule, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance.
• Be an internal expert in workplace strategies for office facility design.
• Facilitate communication and coordinate between Business Units, Real Estate, Office Services, Maintenance, Risk Management, Purchasing, EHS, and other internal customers and stakeholders.
• Manage project-based relationships with internal customers, suppliers, consultants, and government entities or regulatory agencies in the development of projects.
• Clearly communicate facilities processes and requirements to occupants, internal customers, suppliers, consultants, and governmental entities/regulatory agencies.
• Manage project capital and expense budgets and aligns to Company accounting requirements.
• Provide best value project budget planning and control considering facility quality, lifecycle costs, and operations aligned with internal customer and business needs.

• Expertise in construction contract negotiation and supplier development strategies
• Experience with utilizing and refining internal process to facilitate sound decision making and impactful results
• Demonstrated project management skills and expertise
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project software
• Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel

Basic Requirements:

The education and experience requirements for this position are to meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Accredited Architectural degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience
• Accredited Engineering Bachelors’ or 2-year Engineering Technology degree with at least 15 years relevant experience

Top Candidate Will Also Have:

• PMP certification is desirable
• Demonstrated project management skills and expertise
• International experience with high complexity facilities projects
• Demonstrates collaboration and interpersonal skills to build and manage strong relationships

• Experience with working through scope and communicating project progress to internal customers and Company leadership

• Expertise in construction contract negotiation and supplier development strategies

• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project software

Additional Details:

• Domestic US relocation is available for those who qualify
• Up to 30% - 50% travel is expected, including international
