Description

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs many varied functions for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. OIG has six Divisions: Division of Regulated Child Care, Division of Health Care, Division of Audits and Investigations, Certificate of Need, Division of Telehealth Services, and the Division of Kentucky Health Information Exchange. These Divisions cover a wide variety of job tasks and duties in varied settings throughout Kentucky, which include inspecting and licensing childcare and healthcare facilities and services, conducting investigations of complaints in those facilities, conducting Medicaid fraud and other types of complaints for the Cabinet. OIG is also responsible for managing Kentucky's Health Information Exchange, which is the technical infrastructure that enables doctors, hospital staff, and other healthcare providers to electronically share patient health information and health history.


The Project Design Coordinator II performs professional duties to include planning, scheduling, coordinating, and participating in preparations of site plans, architectural plans, engineering plans, feasibility studies, and major construction projects for all construction projects for health care facilities in Kentucky. This position conducts final inspections to determine if state health care facilities are following state and federal licensure requirements after construction is completed. This position will be working with architectural, engineering companies and facility owners regarding approvals and deficiencies and participates in the design of new structures and/or the renovation and restoration of existing structures to meet state and federal requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed as a professional architect by the Kentucky Board of Architects OR, must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers & Land Surveyors or, must be registered as a professional landscape architect by the Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which may require the following of safety procedures.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
