The California Department of Social Services' (CDSS) Information Systems Division (ISD) is looking for a leader for their Project Oversight Chief. The Project Oversight Branch is responsible for Project Management, Business Analysis and Project Oversight. The Branch oversees and manages small, medium and large internal and statewide projects to streamline and automate services and programs.

Under the administrative direction of the Deputy Director, Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Project Oversight Chief, CEA A supports the Directorate and Department by organizing, directing, and overseeing information technology (IT) project management and enterprise. The Project Oversight Chief provides policy guidance and leadership for the Departments IT projects and establishes IT priorities which ensure new systems and IT initiatives align with the strategic plan, are planned, and deployed correctly and remain operational at optimal performance levels. The Project Oversight Chief is also responsible for providing direction and guidance on IT enterprise projects and opportunities which further support CDSS programs and goals while also supporting the mission of the department.

This position has been designated as eligible for hybrid. The position may require in-person attendance when requested.

• Excellent leadership, organizational and time-management skills. 
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills. 
• Demonstrated ability to work with control agencies and other governmental entities. 
• Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of multi-disciplinary professional, technical and administrative staff. 
• Experience with the California Department of Technology's Project Approval Life Cycle (PAL). 
• Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certifications desired.

Additional Examination Information

Please note that there is not an online examination for the C.E.A. classification. Your application package and Statement of Qualifications will be evaluated as part of the examination process.

The results of this examination will only be used to fill the position of CEA level A, Project Oversight and Strategic Technology Branch Chief and may be used to fill subsequent vacancies for this position for a period of up to 12 months. The Department may elect to consider applications in addition to those previously screened.
