IT Systems Support Specialist (Technology Support Specialist IV) Annual Salary Range - $65,025.87 - $76,591.13 SCOPE OF WORK : Serves as a technical advisor for the CCSNH Banner Server and Storage operating systems, responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring those systems and the associated production workloads. Provides technical guidance related to the server/storage/network configuration plans related to the Banner environment. This position reports to the Network Manager at the CCSNH Chancellor's Office.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Installs, maintains, and supports Banner/Oracle environment servers for all seven campuses including, Banner Admin and Student Information System-SIS.
- Supports Storage and backups for Banner systems.
- Supports Oracle Linux OS, keep current, problem resolution and performance.
- Installs, maintains, and supports the Unix job scheduler software (Application Manager -Appworx).
- Interfaces with specialized software use such as Vertere and Envisions Intellecheck, including providing user assistance and troubleshooting, as needed.
- Performs setups, scripting, and troubleshooting for SFTP and Third-Party Integrations.
- Interfaces with vendors on Banner related purchases, renewals and technical troubleshooting.
- Provides HelpDesk support for Banner programmers and Banner users.
- Uses performance and monitoring tools on Unix/Linux servers for Banner environment to ensure operational efficiencies.
- Researches and presents options to management for purchases related to the Banner/Oracle environment.
- Writes C, Unix shell programs on Unix/Linux/Window servers that are Banner related.
- Documents procedures for processes in the Banner, AppWorx and backup/restore environments.
- Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned or required.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in mathematics, computer science, business administration, or a related degree field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours in the field of computer science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Five years' experience in systems operations, three years of which shall have been concerned with maintaining computer systems and providing technical support in a multi-platform environment. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification : Valid driver's license or access to statewide transportation.
Special Qualifications: Experience with supporting, upgrading, and migrating UNIX/Linux Servers in a large business or college environment. Ellucian Banner OS level setup, upgrading and maintenance experience required. Skills in using SSH/SFTP and TCP/IP protocols. Experience with Appworx scripting, troubleshooting and monitoring. Banner Environment - Experience with banner related products, upgrades, scripting, troubleshooting.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of software and hardware programming languages. Knowledge of current computer hardware and software developments. Knowledge of communication hardware and software developments. Knowledge of principles of effective supervision and administration. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teammates. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the CCSNH.
