The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria(UICOMP) is seeking board-certified or board-eligible pediatricians to fill onefull-time positions in the Department of Pediatrics' Hospitalist Division.

Join our dynamic and collegial team where the positionincludes exclusively academic teams for inpatient pediatric care on our generaland intermediate level units, newborn nursery, and the pediatric sedation team.Our team is committed to providing evidence based patient and family centeredcare while teaching medical students, pediatric ( emergency medicine and family medicine residents, andfellows from our accredited Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Fellowship. Academic time is protected and allows focuson teaching, curricular development, quality improvement, safety initiatives,mentorship, simulation based education and innovation. We collaborate with our medical and surgicalsubspecialties and serve as the primary admitting service for most medicalspecialties while providing consulting and co-management roles for our surgicalcolleagues.


Clinical activities of thefaculty are primarily concentrated at CHOI, which is the primary pediatricteaching facility for UICOMP and is a 132-bed facility that offers over 50pediatric programs and services. These programs represent over 100pediatric sub-specialists in 24 different disciplines, including the largestpediatric surgery program in Illinois. CHOI is the only full servicetertiary hospital for children in downstate Illinois with a children andadult congenital heart disease program, Illinois Perinatal Center, a Level IIIneonatal intensive care unit and is designated as a Level I trauma center. Wecollaborate routinely with Jump Simulation for education, teaching, researchand innovation,

UICOMP is one ofthe three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine,one of the largest public medical schools in the country. UICOMP's educational programs include 244medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 different post graduateprograms. The Department of Pediatricsis one of the largest departments at UICOMP. In collaboration with the OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital ofIllinois, the Department has 19 divisions and over 145 faculty membersproviding general pediatrics and subspecialty services to the pediatricpopulation in Central Illinois.

About Children's Hospital of Illinois
The current research infrastructure within the Departmentincludes office of research, a dedicated biostatistician and internal researchfunding mechanism to support our faculty. The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is Children's Hospital ofIllinois, a tertiary care facility serving a 37-county region with a populationbase of over two million. Children's Hospital of Illinois providescomprehensive services to children, including Level IV NICU and astate-designated Pediatric Critical Care Center. Children's Hospital ofIllinois is a major medical facility with 136 beds and a 32-bed critical careunit and the only Level 1 trauma center in Illinois outside of Chicago. There are existing resources through UICOMPand Children's Hospital of Illinois for seeding research funding, quality andoutcomes focused academic work and innovation in health education.
