Job description
Overview:
The Drawing Operators operates machines that stretches or draws wire by pulling the wire through a series of dies.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for work instructions corresponding with job
- Places the payoff package of feedstock at the machine
- Strings the machine up per the required process sheet
- Make welds from one package to another
- Removes completed package and secures for movement to the next operation
- Examines the product to specifications and records results per requirement
- Enters product into system as required and monitors production to schedule
- Maintains housekeeping as assigned
- Responsible for initiating actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities, identifying and recording problems relating to product quality, processes, and quality systems, as well as controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming product
- Responsible for adhering to the health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations
- Examines wire for conformance to specifications and performs quality checks. Makes independent decisions for appropriate corrective action steps to take to correct malfunctions and variances.
- Change machine set up and make necessary adjustments according to various part number specifications on Work Orders.
- Use RMF program to record and tag quality and production data such as scrap and finished goods.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate data and information on quality logs, production reporting, and any other applicable documentation.
- Responsible for initiating actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities, identifying and recording problems relating to product quality, processes and quality systems as well as controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming product.
- May be required to work during hours of the day or week other than the standard operating schedule.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Verbal communication and listening skills appropriate for manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use sound reasoning to independently make decisions in order to optimize efficiency of bunching equipment from a productivity and technical standpoint.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions
- Ability to keep multiple bunching machines operating simultaneously in order to maximize the efficiency of each machine.
- Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and activities with the capability of making plan adjustments spontaneously to maximize safety, quality and machine efficiency
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED preferred Proficient math skills Good reading and listening skills Legible hand writing Must demonstrate good troubleshooting and problem solving skills Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word software
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Corrected vision to 20/20 being able to clearly see objects at long or short distances and be able to see details in small objects and read fine print
- Occasional manual lifting up to 50 pounds
- Frequent manually push/pull, scoot, slide, rotate or roll reels of product or objects that are medium to large size and of various weights short distances usually on flat surfaces but occasionally on sloped surfaces, in order to place or reposition reels of product or objects.
- Able to lift and carry by hand various tools, materials, containers usually small to moderate in size
- Active walking with irregular periods of standing and infrequent sitting or leaning
- Frequent bending and stooping to work with material at floor level
- Frequent tasks involving reaching and/or gripping with varied personal physical exertion/force requirements for each task.
- Able to react quickly to changing circumstances and move with safe speed and agility from one position or location to another
