Shift: Shift 1 (7:00am-7:30pm) and Shift 3 (7:00pm-7:30am); during class the hours vary from 6:15am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, including some weekends
Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $16.07/hour
After being hired to a specific nursing unit, the CNA Trainee attends classes 30-hours per week for 6-weeks to become a Certified Nursing Assistant at an organization-approved local technical college. Additionally, the CNA Trainee will participate in (10) hours of training and orientation per week on the unit in which they were hired prior to completing the CNA course. Provides patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the nurse on the unit and works with an assigned CNA at all times during the 6-week training. The CNA Trainee assists the CNA in implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs, comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid and elimination needs. May have access to and transport non-controlled medications as directed.
Once a CNA trainee successfully completes their program (verified by school transcript) and all unit competencies are validated, they can function independently in this role and perform the job duties identified in this job description.
