Job description
The Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Supervisor will supervise the billing activities of ChildServe and effectively monitor, report, and coordinate collection efforts for the organization’s receivables.
What You'll Do
- Supervises the team through effective hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. Ensure development of staff to achieve high results. Promote engagement and satisfaction to drive retention. Collaborate with management team to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participates in the preparation of the ChildServe annual budget by preparing revenue worksheets and working with management staff to determine projected units of service and billing rates for the budget year.
- Responsible for revenue cycle management including: verifying and validating the accuracy of charges, as to proper contract and service; reviewing bills for correct products, correct codes, physician information and correct billing format for payer; supervising submission of all billing to ensure timely reimbursement; verifying payments are applied correctly to charges; and supervising collection efforts.
- Develops and implements processes for revenue cycle management. Participates in the design and implementation of new accounting procedures and processes for new and existing programs.
- Prepares accurate and meaningful reports for internal and external users. Prepares the Accounts Receivable Collection Efforts Summary for accounts over 60 days old by the 15th of each month. Prepares a weekly report summarizing billing claims that have been rejected or denied.
- Coordinates collection of billing source information from program services by corporate accounting. Serves as primary backup for the billing coordinators.
- Review all billing to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Resolves differences between billings and payments. Ensures paperwork and data entry is completed accurately, payment is guaranteed prior to delivery and revenue is recorded appropriately. Records and documents all errors providing input to management on educational opportunities for the staff. Ensures that all changes to bills are documented in billing system to ensure future reimbursement. Evaluates and analyzes reports to identify problems and trends in revenue management and staff productivity. Implements and ensures compliance with revenue management policies, procedures and best practices.
- Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures as well as with federal, state, local regulations.
- Works with external auditors from private and governmental agencies to review sales and receivables activity.
- Supervises Accounts Receivable function between ChildServe and third party payers and functions as lead in all Accounts Receivable issues for the organization. Issues final notice letters and recommends placement of past due amounts with collection agency.
What You'll Need
Education: AA/AS in Accounting or Business Administration, or have equivalent experience
Experience: 5 years Medicaid or Medicare billing required. Prefer experience with a non-profit, human services agency, or healthcare/insurance field.
