Position Summary:
Manage a wide variety of repairs, maintenance, installations, replacements, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic tasks for various makes and models. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must have strong mechanical experience and understand a variety of equipment, be computer savvy, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to triage and prioritize work orders. Additionally, candidate must have high level of supervisory and management skills to manage and oversee non-supervisory employees with direct supervision of all maintenance employees including mechanics, technicians, and clerks.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating employee performance, and conducting disciplinary action as needed and per company policy.
- Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Work with vendors and staff to minimize downtime for the fleet while ensuring all safety standards are met for the maintenance of the fleet
- Hire, train, coach and mentor shop employees which includes continuous training that benefits the mechanics’ development
- Work with Operations teams regarding vehicles readiness and concerns
- Develop processes and implement a plan to ensure correct items and quantities are in stock in the appropriate terminals
- Oversee efforts to improve profitability through cost reduction, cost avoidance, and process improvement.
- Inspect work in progress to assure conformance with established maintenance and repair practice
- Maintain a friendly relationship with suppliers and vendors
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of employees in the maintenance shop
- Achieve maximum efficiency by carrying out various outsourcing methods
- Collaborate with trustworthy partners and suppliers
- Negotiate on the pricing such that it fits in our budget
- Prepare and provide KPI’s to senior management
- Work closely with Maintenance managers and regional management teams providing maintenance status, vehicle availability, and budget updates.
- Review financial and budget variances and accounts payable documents.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance and productivity, identify operational issues, and process improvements, and implement strategies to improve performance
- Plan and coordinate tasks and activities of the company’s fleet and equipment repair shop and ensure timely repair of gas (CNG) and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Take lead on the specing and purchasing of all company equipment
- Work with equipment manufactures to ensure that warranty items are being addressed, and that PM schedules are being followed per their manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure all maintenance staff is using TMT for all repairs, PO’s, vendor invoicing, parts inventory, and equipment inventory
- Ability to take lead on shop startups for all domiciles
- Travel is required 60% of the time.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years in Supervisor or Management role
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational or technical training is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience of maintenance operations.
- Experience in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Proficiency in OEM or related software and basic data analytics.
- Must be comfortable using and learning modern technology including Microsoft Office and associated programs; fleet management software experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skill
- Goal oriented, highly motivated self-starter and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong work ethic with high personal standards for quality of work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
