Job Description:
The VoIP Engineer (VoIP) will be a key member of the EOIR team, specializing in Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies and services. This individual will be responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of VoIP systems and infrastructure, as well as managing the migration of legacy telecommunication services to modern VoIP solutions. The role involves assessing the current telephony environment, identifying areas for improvement, implementing VoIP fax solutions, and ensuring interoperability with systems such as desktop and room-based video teleconferencing. The VoIP Engineer (VoIP) will lead efforts to migrate all circuits from the GSA to under EOIR/OIT control, eliminate dependencies on analog lines, and maintain phone signals for security panels at all sites. This position requires troubleshooting, performance tuning, and providing high-level technical support for VoIP infrastructure. Coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing service outages, and escalating unresolved issues are critical functions of the position. A clear understanding of FedRAMP compliance, protocol standardization, and capacity management is essential. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of automated call distribution systems, telephony, and conferencing capabilities.Note: Position is contingent on contract award.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 10 years related experience, or a Master's Degree with 8 years related experience.
Relevant professional certifications (such as CCNP Voice, CCVP, or equivalent).
Profound knowledge of VoIP technologies and related telecommunication systems.
Experience with system migration, including moving circuits from GSA to EOIR/OIT.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Familiarity with Federal IT security standards such as FedRAMP.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Design, implement, and manage VoIP infrastructure, ensuring efficient operation and integration with related systems.
Lead EIS circuit migration agency-wide to shift all circuits under EOIR/OIT jurisdiction.
Implement VoIP fax solutions and ensure a reliable phone signal for security panels, phasing out reliance on analog lines.
Handle installation, operations, and maintenance for telephony and associated services.
