Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled IT Support Technician to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support and assistance to our staff, ensuring efficient and effective operation of our computer systems and peripherals. This role requires a problem-solving mindset, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of information technology.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to IT support requests in a timely manner. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues. Escalate complex problems to senior staff as needed.
- Perform regular maintenance of IT systems, including updates and upgrades to hardware and software. Ensure systems are secure and running efficiently.
- Assist users with setting up new equipment, including computers, printers, and other peripherals. Provide training and guidance on the use of IT resources.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
- Maintain accurate records of IT issues, repairs, and maintenance. Update system documentation and IT inventory.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect systems from malware and data breaches. Educate staff on security best practices.
- Work closely with other IT staff to deliver projects and improve IT services. Participate in team meetings and contribute to IT strategy discussions.
- Morris & Dickson Technical Team operates on a 24X7 basis; therefore, candidate must be willing to do on-call on emergency as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in IT support or a related role.
- Proficiency in Windows and/or Mac OS environments, knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), experience with Microsoft Office suite and other common software.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work well in a team, as well as independently.
- Certification in Microsoft platforms such as Azure, MCP, CCNA or similar are preferred.
Working Environment:
- Office/Distribution Center
- Occasionally requires lifting of moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- The Second Shift may require working outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, for emergency situations. Shift rotation on schedule M-F, Sun-Th.
